Jessica Orbe-Solano is the new Director of Memory Care and Sage Living Neighborhoods. These are our two special areas of Heritage Pointe that cater to seniors with specific needs.
Jessica’s face lights up when asked about working with seniors. “Since the beginning of my nursing career as a licensed vocational nurse, my passion primary has focused in elder care. The life lessons residents are able to share, I have always found to be inspiring” she said. “I get to learn about the life changing events and each resident’s hobbies and interests and contribute to bring that passion back in their everyday life”.
The Memory Care neighborhood provides a secure setting for seniors living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Currently 85% full, residents enjoy a lifestyle of daily activities and social opportunities in comfortable surroundings. Jessica leads a wonderful team in that area and has made improvements in a very short time.
According to Jessica, “…one of my main goals for Memory Care is for the department to flourish to its highest potential. I am currently working on remodeling and redesigning the Living Room area. I am also working on restructuring the procedures of care to increase overall resident well-being. One of the highlights we have begun in memory care is setting a bi-weekly zoom call option for families that choose to see their loved ones via zoom with the assistance of our activities department”.
The Sage Living neighborhood opened late last year, and is a beautiful addition to Heritage Pointe. With a higher staff-to-resident ratio than traditional assisted living, seniors who need extra assistance with daily routines and tasks get more individualized care. Currently, Sage Living is 100% full!
“Sage Living has been thriving and has come to life with each additional resident!” says Jessica. “The cooperative involvement from each department is amazing— last week we had a cooking demonstration for watermelon gazpacho. Almost every Friday, staff come to the neighborhood to do performances, filling the halls with a harmonious melody. Even the Executive Administrator engages with residents while we bake cookies together in our Sage Kitchen.”
