We honor our fathers and mothers as Jewish tradition teaches us. Our Residents represent “our communal parents” and we honor them with the naming of our congregational synagogue, K’hilat Horim – Community of Parents. K’hilat Horim and full-time clergy beautify and sanctity Heritage Pointe. Our Director of Spiritual Life, Rabbi Karen Sherman, ably serves our Heritage Pointe community as its spiritual and religious leader. All of our Residents, by virtue of living at Heritage Pointe, are members of K'hilat Horim.
Our Spiritual Life Committee is responsible for how we honor our community of parents in their golden years in “The Jewish Way.” The committee includes our Director of Spiritual Life, Rabbi Sherman, Resident representatives, board members, staff members, and volunteers, and is chaired by board member David Zarnow, Vice President of Spiritual Life. The committee strives to make Heritage Pointe a vibrant and joyous “Jewish Place,” and not just a place for Jewish seniors.
The Spiritual Life Committee recommends policy on spiritual guidance and pastoral care, worship services, Jewish cultural and learning programming, kashrut dietary supervision, and all religious activities in our Heritage Pointe community.
As a pluralistic Jewish community of Residents from many walks of life and with varied traditions, we constantly are crafting and refining our Minhag HaMakom - our "Custom of the Place." We welcome local community members to join our Residents for worship and celebration.
Friday Shabbat dinner or Saturday Shabbat lunch reservations can be made by contacting our Director of Food Services, Julie Porter, at email@example.com. Heritage Pointe observes prevailing Jewish Dietary Laws per Orange County Conservative Synagogues.
